Watch: The Ride of 644

A tribute to the original 1971 film ‘The Ride of 480’, and dedicated to all volunteers, past & present, of the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, this film covers Ww 644 on the ‘Great North Island Steam & Diesel Rail Tour’ – travelling from Glenbrook to Palmerston North down the North Island Main Trunk Line, for the FRONZ 50th celebrations in June 2025.

This film starts off retracing the first few scenes of the original film, before delving into our own style, with a few more nods to the original film throughout. The end result, a touching story of GVR’s little tank loco completing it’s biggest adventure in over 55 years.
